Your Guide to Home Cinemas!
Written by Home Cinema Gallery Monday, 15 August 2011 09:47
A sanctuary from the real world, your own home theatre is a fantastic environment to escape for a few hours with family and friends. Wealth looks at the latest trends in home cinema and entertainment.
Home cinemas are different things to different people. For some they’re a sanctuary, a place to escape into another world with loved ones, somewhere to relax and entertain. For serious film buffs, it’s about having the ultimate movie watching experience with the very best in sound and visual performance. While other people simply don’t their movie spoilt by whispering and giggling strangers with mobile phones and rustling sweet wrappers.
Whatever the reason, here in the UAE, many people don’t have the space restrictions of other countries and as a result are getting more adventurous with their home entertainment system, whether this just means a bigger plasma screen and surround sound speakers or the ultimate home cinema, a room turned into a theatre complete with movie seats and projector. Really, the only limitations are imagination and budget.
Performance: The keys to the home theatre experience are content, control, performance and convenience, says Amir Anwar of Dubai Audio, a company that installs luxury, high-end home entertainment systems.

Up close and personal
This cinema shows what’s possible if no-frills is your thing. A two person affair it really does get straight down to it – everything points to a no-nonsense movie experience.
Two Fortress cinema seats – a Pantages and a Matinee in leather, both given added motion tech thanks to D-BOX – sit in front of a Screen Research Clearpix2 120inch 2.35:1 screen with serious intent. “C’mon, when does the movie start”, they seem to be saying.
Seriously great images are beamed on to the screen courtesy of the multi-award-winning Runco LS-5, complete with Whitney anamorphic lens. And cinema audio is provided by a Sherbourn SR-120 receiver and Procella speakers: 3 x P8; 4 x P6; 2 x P15.
Sure, there’d be nothing wrong with adorning these walls with one or two movie posters (framed in black, of course), but the technology behind this cinema system is so good, there’s really no need to add garnish. Serious cinema performance, up close and personal.
