This dedicated cinema features a hybrid speaker system which gives an epic amount of bass! The client has 3 Procella Audio P8’s hidden behind the acoustically transparent, THX certified Screen Research screen, in the full cinema scope 2.35 aspect ratio. With a peak output of 129dB, the P8’s create a fabulous front sound stage.
Also hidden behind the screen are a pair of thunderous Procella Audio P10 subwoofers. Packing a pair of 10” woofers and a 2 x 350W amplifier per subwoofer, these monsters peak at 122dB maximum output, ample in most rooms but because of the room length, this design had a trick up its sleeve. Four powerful Definitive Technology STS have been employed for the surround channels and each of these features a 300W amplifier to drive the integrated subwoofers.
Slim and attractive looking they may be but don’t let their stature fool you, these speakers offer serious performance. The entire package is driven by the colossal Sherbourn 7-350, which, as its name suggests, offers a staggering 350W per channel : Perfect!
The system has its images provided courtesy of the beautiful Runco Q-750i. The LED based light engine offers a far wider colour gamut than conventional projectors and a huge 50,000 hour lamp life. Using 70% less energy when compared to conventional projectors goes some way to offset the beefy power amplifiers consumption!

A sanctuary from the real world, your own home theatre is a fantastic environment to escape for a few hours with family and friends. Wealth looks at the latest trends in home cinema and entertainment.
Home cinemas are different things to different people. For some they’re a sanctuary, a place to escape into another world with loved ones, somewhere to relax and entertain. For serious film buffs, it’s about having the ultimate movie watching experience with the very best in sound and visual performance. While other people simply don’t their movie spoilt by whispering and giggling strangers with mobile phones and rustling sweet wrappers.
Whatever the reason, here in the UAE, many people don’t have the space restrictions of other countries and as a result are getting more adventurous with their home entertainment system, whether this just means a bigger plasma screen and surround sound speakers or the ultimate home cinema, a room turned into a theatre complete with movie seats and projector. Really, the only limitations are imagination and budget.
Performance: The keys to the home theatre experience are content, control, performance and convenience, says Amir Anwar of Dubai Audio, a company that installs luxury, high-end home entertainment systems.
